Most of us revise our courses every semester, tinkering with details here and there to fix problems and to make the courses just a bit better. But there comes a time when incremental, piecemeal changes are not enough for our courses to reach their potential. Perhaps you’ve taught a course for years and it’s become a bit stale. Perhaps you inherited a course and are ready to make it your own. Or perhaps you’ve evolved as a teacher and are ready to recreate (or create) a course that better reflects your professional growth. Are you ready to tackle a more comprehensive course revamp/re-engineering/rejuvenation? If you want to take your course up a few notches in the company of other motivated colleagues and guided by research-informed coaching, then apply for the “Reinvent Your Course” workshop this summer. Available to tenured, tenure-track, and full-time non-tenure track faculty only. Seats are limited. $500 stipend upon completion.
One full-day session (Thursday, May 14, 9am-3pm) is required, plus three half-day sessions (May 21, June 25 and July 16 9am-12pm or 1-4pm). When you complete the workshop you will have a detailed course syllabus and a specific action plan for teaching your reinvented course in the fall. A follow up session in December 2009 will give you the opportunity to share your experiences with fellow workshop participants. Dr. Tim Fredstrom will lead the workshop.
All tenured, tenure-track, and full-time non-tenure track faculty and staff with teaching responsibilities are eligible to apply.
